Important material for recycled yarn

Hyosung TNC has been making yarn out of discarded transparent plastic bottles since 2006. The leggings, made from hyosung TNC recycled yarn, contain 10 clear plastic bottles. Transparent plastic bottles are used as an important material for recycled yarn by importing waste materials from overseas.

In the past, plastic bottles that were thrown away in Korea contained foreign matter, and most of them were colored plastic bottles, which were difficult to make into clothes. What can be done is short fiber, mostly for products of no quality, such as filling materials or non-woven fabrics used for dolls. However, the separation of clear plastic bottles makes it easier to make high-quality yarn that can be used in clothing and outdoor backpacks.

"What we want to do in the future is make thinner lines than we do now. In this way, it can be applied to more diverse products, such as underwear and windshields. PET bottles thrown away in Korea still contain high levels of foreign matter, including adhesives attached to the outside of PET bottles. If there are a lot of foreign objects, the thread can easily break, so to make thin thread, you need to solve this problem."
